Giel works as a psychosynthesis psychotherapist in Amsterdam. His passion lies in working with young adults, questions on gender and sexuality, early childhood trauma and people wanting to reclaim their sexuality after abuse.

Giel has a special interest in existential psychotherapy and social constructivism in trying to understand complex social phenomena and more down to earth: the dynamics in human relations. From his experiences he teaches and supervises in the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK on the topics of Sexuality, Gender, Existential Psychotherapy, Defense Mechanisms, Character Styles, Interrelations and the Psychosynthesis Essentials.

He links psychosynthesis to contemporary scientific insights, other psychological models and meditation to the body and the soul. He’s inspired by the works of Ernesto Spinelli, Stephen Porges, Gabor Mate and Peter Levine. Other fields of interest are the effects of social media and the use of substances on our brains and the way we relate to the world, each other and ourselves.
