Introduction to the role
The Exploring Anxiety programme seeks to help participants from all walks of life to alleviate their experiences of anxiety through psychosynthesis-informed activities and experiences.
After completing their training, Facilitators of the programme can lead 2-hour weekly sessions of group discussions, relaxation techniques, local community group collaborations and other activities with their participants over a course of ten weeks.
Organisational Overview
The Psychosynthesis Trust is a psychospiritual, psychotherapeutic training organisation that strives for connection and community. A small educational charity with a rich 50-year history of enabling human potential in the UK, the Trust was founded by pioneering leaders in education, psychology, science and spirituality and we continue to work at that nexus today. Our work is based on psychosynthesis – a transpersonal psychological model and approach that integrates the spiritual aspect of the human experience.
Our core work is in providing personal and professional training programmes ‘to help people to know and transform themselves’.
Our values and our culture consider the whole, both in terms of individuals and society, as well as from an organisational perspective. We orientate to working with the qualities of love and will, bringing the principles of curiosity, inquiry, and responsibility to our work and to each other.
The Trust has an intention of playing an important role in one of the most exciting times in history – helping people to finding meaning, purpose, wellbeing, and a sense of place in an increasingly complex world. We believe that our work will help to enable an expanded sense of human consciousness in individuals and in society.
The Trust created a Social Impact project to offer outreach work within our local community providing support those with the most pressing social needs. This work, in collaboration with other local charities brings communities together, supporting participants who experience anxiety, through a tailored programme which utilises discussion/support groups, interactive experiences within nature (including community gardening). Our ultimate aim is to support the reduction of the stigma associated mental health, whilst signposting participants to local resources and support.
The Role
Exploring Anxiety Programme Facilitators are essential to the delivery of group programmes in community groups and within corporations. A minimum of two facilitators will lead each programme, working with ten participants over ten weeks.
We are interested in training facilitators who want to work with diverse participant groups (youth, environmental-focused, disadvantaged, corporate, elderly etc.) and who are passionate to support those experiencing various forms of anxiety (social, GAD, environmental, phobias).
As the programme uses nature as a lens, many of the sessions are based outside and use natural metaphors. Therefore, facilitators are required to have an active interest in nature and the environment. Additionally, an interest or understanding of psychotherapy or the psychospiritual, or in wellbeing and mental health, would be beneficial.
Training Commitment:
Each stage requires an assessment to move to the next stage.
Once the Exploring Anxiety Facilitator training programme and assessment has been successfully completed, facilitators are able to run their own Exploring Anxiety programmes as the Programme Lead within their own networks and organisations, as long as another facilitator/trainee facilitator works alongside them.
Once trained, Exploring Anxiety Facilitators will also have the choice to deliver our corporate group programmes, where they will be paid for their facilitation.
Accountable to: Social Impact Director, Kelly Tyler

Love: We work with people who appreciate the strengths and potential in themselves and in others, and who support others in reaching their fullest potential.
Inquiry: We value an environment where we learn as we go through our actions and take time to reflect on what works, what doesn’t, and what we need to do to evolve and adapt.
