The Trust is excited to announce a social psychosynthesis-informed project, aimed at supporting a direct need in society. The Exploring Anxiety Project, developed from a needs analysis, aims to help adults explore anxiety through a relational approach using nature and community as it’s themes.
At the Trust, we are inspired by developing a social impact project which holds the psychospiritual philosophies of psychosynthesis to assess how we can support a positive impact.
In business, anxiety is increasingly impacting people and their lives (6 in 100 people diagnosed in England) and the ripple effects are being felt within our communities and economy. With 822,000 workers nationally affected by anxiety every year, which is estimated to cost UK businesses up to £8 billion a year and an estimated 17 million working days being lost as a result*. Additionally, Covid, Climate Change and the Cost-of-Living Crisis are creating more unsettlement and change, which are adding to the increase in levels of anxiety in our society.
Nonetheless, not all those who suffer with anxiety are naturally diagnosed, as many people identify with the symptoms more than the term ‘anxiety’. From our own survey of around 100 people, we recognised that 95% are identifying with symptoms such as, overwhelm, perfectionism, stress and restlessness, but didn’t classify them as anxiety. What we’ve learned is by sharing our personal narratives within like-minded community, that this can help us demystify some of the symptoms as participants have learnt and shared from each other and built a support system. This project intends to support participants to explore anxiety, whilst learning how to manage the symptoms in a non-therapeutic approach.
