Restoring Resonance in the Therapeutic Relationship
22 July 2023 @ 10:00 am - 5:30 pm
£75 – £95
Explore the complexity of relational dynamics in the therapeutic relationship at this in-person 1 day workshop.
Summary:
Do you feel despondent about your therapeutic relationship with a client?
Perhaps your formulation does not match what is actually occurring in the co-created space between you?
Maybe your well-intentioned interventions do not “land”, seem unhelpful and sometimes lead to ruptures?
This experiential workshop will offer the opportunity to explore the complexity of relational dynamics in the therapeutic relationship, utilising the principles of systemic constellations.
The workshop is designed as a confidential supervision space where the therapeutic relationship can be explored phenomenologically through the lens of systemic constellations, with primary focus on the therapist’s experience.
Utilising the power, intelligence and simplicity of systemic representation, you will be able to: shed light on invisible layers of communication in the therapeutic dyad; explore the impact of some conscious or unconscious beliefs you may hold; understand enactments; explore some of the unconscious reasons underlying puzzling ruptures.
Workshop purpose:
The purpose of the workshop is twofold:
- To sensitise therapists to the ways in which the orientation they unconsciously take towards the client is impacted by the systems they are part of (most notably their family of origin), as well as the beliefs they may be carrying as a result. …..with some – but not exclusive – focus on the phenomena of transference and countertransference, the workshop will help elucidate hidden, unspoken and mostly unconscious communications, which hinder the therapeutic relationship and may have led to an impasse. From a psychosynthesis perspective this may be experienced by the therapist as loss of resonance with the client’s Self.
- To restore movement and resonance, by identifying and acknowledging any underlying entanglements and exploring ways of working towards their resolution..
Who is it for?
The workshop is for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists from any discipline who want to explore the dynamics in the therapeutic relationship, utilising the principles of systemic constellations.
This workshop is the second in our two-part system constellation series. The first workshop in April is open to all interested in exploring family constellations. The workshops can be attended in sequence or individually.
If you have any accessibility issues that you may need assistance with, please email Kajal at events@ptrust.org.uk.
What to expect?
The in-person experiential workshop will include resourcing exercises, which will enable participants to experience a richer connection with the clients they serve, as their lens is widened by the systemic context.
Our approach
Psychosynthesis as applied to psychotherapy is a unique approach that combines both psychology and spirituality. It is a holistic process that helps the individual deal with patterns of behaviours which inhibit or prevent living life in meaningful and fulfilling ways. It brings us into contact with the life journey to meaning and purpose.
