Who is it for?
This course is open to those who want to train in psychosynthesis to become a psychotherapist with full independent status and UKCP registration.

The Advanced Diploma in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy leads to UKCP registration as a Psychotherapist.
Our Advanced Psychotherapy training builds upon previous learning to enable you to practice to a depth and degree of clinical expertise and theoretical knowledge that is integrated within the wider field of psychology.

Programme Structure

Year One/ Stage 4 (Double Module):
Component 1: Depth Psychosynthesis – Cultivating an appreciation and understanding of psychosynthesis psychotherapy as distinct from counselling.
Component 2: Context Themes – Acquiring an overview of topical themes and concerns essential to the practice of professional psychotherapy.
Component 3: Clinical/Applied Practice – The enhancement of practical experience through the development and maintenance of a safe, ethical practice, with reflective learning supported through supervision.
Component 4: Research Skills – Developing an in-depth understanding of research methods and skills as a reflexive practitioner in preparation of the dissertation.
Component 5: Personal Development – The maturing of psychological, emotional and spiritual development appropriate to a well-rounded, versatile, professional psychotherapy practitioner, making use of psychosynthesis as a core model within an integrated theoretical approach. The time commitment for Year 1 is a two or three-day weekend each month, weekly individual therapy, small group supervision, monthly individual supervision and tutorial groups.

Year Two/Stage 5 (Double Module):
Component 6: Research Skills – Prepare for the dissertation through the acquisition of research methodology and skills.
Component 7: Dissertation – Researching and writing your dissertation.
Component 8: Mental Health Familiarisation Project – Research, familiarisation and report.
Component 9: Professional and Personal Development – The continuation of clinical practice under supervision and the commitment to ongoing personal development.
Course Requirements
Year 1 (stage 4)
Private study, written assignments (essay, personal practice philosophy presentation, Oral presentation and draft research proposal), minimum of 40 individual therapy sessions, 150 clinical or applied setting hours
Year 2 (stage 5)
Private study and dissertation research and completion (formative and summative submissions), written assignments (clinical case study and mental health report, minimum of 40 individual therapy sessions, 150 clinical hours)
Essential Therapist Guidance
For the Advanced Diploma you will need 80 hours of personal therapy, usually with a UKCP registered psychosynthesis therapist (minimum 40 hours per year of study).
Individual therapy needs to be a minimum of 80% face-to-face (in-person).
Our recommendation is weekly therapy, on the same day & time each week, for 50-60 minute sessions.
