Mel Brown

Supervisor

Mel Brown is a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist. She works in Private Practice with individuals & couples and is a Supervisor at the Psychosynthesis and Education Trust in London. Mel studied Counselling & Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University & trained as a Supervisor at The Psychosynthesis Trust in 2017. She has worked with individuals across a wide range of backgrounds & experiences, including children & adolescents & those within the prison sector. She has also worked as Clinical Manager for a Women’s Low-Cost Counselling charity & has worked as a Clinical Supervisor for Women’s Aid.

Mel’s Therapeutic and Supervisory approach is informed by her interest in approaches that honour the whole person. She is particularly interested in the integration of Psychology, Spirituality, Religion, Culture & Lived Experience as well as exploring how these intersect with identity, our understanding of ourselves & the world around us.

Mel values the privilege of accompanying others at significant moments in their lives & brings together her extensive experience, curiosity & compassion to facilitate a Reflective & Supportive space for practitioners to consider perspectives, whilst remaining attentive to Individuality, Intersectionality, Diversity & personal growth.

Creativity is an important part of Mel’s practice. Her early work with children & adolescents developed her appreciation of creative approaches in therapy & she continues to draw on film, art & other creative possibilities where these feel appropriate & meaningful. She is passionate about helping people develop greater self-understanding, nurture their emotional wellbeing & move towards their authentic self, whilst honouring each person’s unique way of experiencing the world.

Mel is passionate about solo travel, which she feels broadens her perspective & deepens her understanding of cultures & experiences different from her own. She enjoys time with her adult children & dogs, as well as silent retreats, prayer, meditation & Pilates, film, theatre, dancing & karaoke.
