Who we are - Trainers
Sarah Van Gogh
Supervisor
Sarah Van Gogh has worked as a therapist in private practice for over 25 years, and is also an experienced supervisor and trainer.
Before she trained as a therapist she studied English literature at Cambridge University, and then worked as an actor, and in community health outreach and adult education.
Sarah worked for seven years as a therapist and trainer for Survivors UK, a London-based charity that provides support to men who have experienced sexual violation.
She was on the training staff at the Re.Vision Centre for Integrative Transpersonal Counselling & Psychotherapy in North London for over 20 years.
She is the author of “Helping Male Survivors of Sexual Violation to Recover”(Jessica Kingsley, 2018), described by Dr Graham Music as a work that ‘skillfully navigates neurobiology, trauma and disscociation, alongside both classic and innovative therapeutic approaches.’
She has written about the vital connection between the expressive arts and therapy for a number of journals. She is also the co-editor and a contributor to “Transformation in Troubled Times. ReVision’s Soulful Approach to Therapeutic Work” (TransPersonal Press, 2018).
She wrote a regular column in the BACP Private Practice Journal for many years on a wide range of topics that affect the therapy profession, and has spoken at numerous conferences and presented CPD events on: working with male survivors; making a place for creativity and the imagination in therapy; and the importance of understanding Eros in the consulting space.
